Food Baskets

A full table, every distribution day.

Fresh produce, dairy and pantry staples for families in Toronto, and soon Markham.

What it is

Food Baskets

Our food baskets are where GHCD began. In 2022, during COVID, we started bringing food from supermarket chains to families who needed it. Today, families registered with GHCD receive perishable and non-perishable food, produce, dairy and more on distribution days.

Every family gets a GHCD family number and updates in their own language, so they always know when and where to come.

Why it matters

Grocery prices in Canada keep climbing, and families with children feel it first. When rent and bills are paid, food is often the only flexible expense left. A basket of fresh food can be the difference between a skipped meal and a full table for the whole week.

A basket does more than feed. It frees up a family's money for rent, transit and school needs, and it tells them that their neighbours care.
